An affordable senior housing community that consists of 45 yurt-like units held a ribbon-cutting last month in Ravenna, OH, about 40 miles southeast of Cleveland, reports the Record-Courier. There’s already a waiting list.
The Wilds at Harvest Rose opened its first stand-alone units — circular structures reminiscent of tents, each with one or two bedrooms as well as a living room, kitchen/dining room and bathroom — in the spring, according to the media outlet. The development also includes a community center that has a manager’s office, laundry room and community room, although residents can hook up washers in drivers in their units as well.
The affordable housing units are age-restricted to those 55 or older and appealed to the developer in part because of their energy efficiency, according to the Record-Courier. The yurt development is adjacent to Harvest Rose, a 13-building, 40-unit affordable 62+ community.
