Thrive Senior Living’s first community in Maryland, Tribute at Melford in Bowie, MD, will celebrate its grand opening Thursday evening, the company announced.

The 120,000 square-foot community includes 104 assisted living units and 36 memory care units as well as a courtyard, bistro, library, creative studio, fitness center, salon, café and community garden. All assisted living units will be equipped with SmartSuite technology, allowing residents to electronically control lighting, music and calendars.

“With every new community we build, we have a commitment to shaking up the long-held expectations around senior living care,” Thrive Senior Living President Les Strech said in a statement.

Every staff member of Tribute at Melford — from chefs and housekeepers to concierges and nurses — is certified by the National Institute for Dementia Education to assist them in interacting with residents.

Tribute at Black Hill is expected to open soon in Germantown, MD. The company has 15 communities, open or about to open, across seven states.
