Older adults are the inspiration behind an early retirement community Taco Bell is launching for two days in August, inviting people of all ages to enjoy senior-inspired daytime recreation, retail and dining.

The Cantinas, dubbed “the ultimate playground for your inner eclectic grandparent,” will launch in San Diego Aug. 17-18 with a promise to offer the “laid-back lifestyle of retirees, regardless of age,” with cross-generational activities including low-impact sports, “old school” arts and crafts, early morning tee times, afternoon aerobics and pickleball matches.

Taco Bell announced the weekend getaway experience earlier this week.

“There’s a common misconception that retirement unlocks the life you’ve been waiting for. And while that may be true for some, we don’t think you should have to wait until 55 to live the life you’re craving,” Taco Bell US Chief Marketing Officer Taylor Montgomery said in a statement.

Access to The Cantinas is limited to Taco Bell Rewards members — memberships will be available on a first come, first served basis through the Taco Bell app beginning Tuesday,  with a range of options including day passes ($50 per day) and weekend memberships ($150) with overnight accommodations.

“Sometimes, you want to call it a night early from the couch instead of staying out till 3 am,” the website read. “If you’re embracing your inner old or trying to get down during the daytime, we want you to come Live Mãs at The Cantinas.”

Taco Bell hosted a similar restaurant experience in 2019 with The Bell: A Taco Bell Hotel & Resort. Reservations at the Palm Springs, CA, destination sold out quickly. The Bell included overnight accommodations, a pool, a hair and nail salon, a gift shop selling Taco Bell merchandise, and various activities from yoga to live concerts, according to Marketing Dive.
