Half of Argentum members participating in a new poll said they have encountered obstacles in securing payment for COVID-19 tests for residents or staff members.

Argentum members representing more than 1,000 communities responded to the survey, results of which the association released Monday.

More than half of the survey’s participants said they are paying for staff members to be tested for COVID-19. Those having trouble receiving payment for staff or resident tests said that issues include health insurance plans denying coverage (41%) and labs refusing to bill Medicare directly (51%).

Almost half of the survey respondents said they operate in a state(s) that requires COVID-19 testing but that the states offer no financial resources to providers.
