Scottsdale, AZ-based Revel Communities has unveiled a program that will enable residents to explore new places by allowing them to rent fully furnished, short-term rental homes across the brand’s portfolio of 13 communities while still keeping their home base at another Revel location.

The company has locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington state.

The idea behind the Seasonal Residence Program is to encourage travel among residents, Danette Opaczewski, executive vice president, resident experience, and chief operating officer, told the McKnight’s Business Daily.

Residents will be able to opt for a three- or six-month stay at a second Revel location when the program, announced in June, starts in earnest this year. At this point, Opaczewski said, the company is just starting to market the program and finalize the details. So far, she said, the idea has been well-received by residents.

“We do have residents who go to and rent a house in different locations for a couple months a year, so we thought we could do something for them within our communities,” she said. “The locations are in great spots.”

Before entering the senior living business, Opaczewski had a long career in hospitality, mostly in boutique luxury hotels.

The idea for the Seasonal Residence Program grew out of a similar travel program that Revel offered before the pandemic, which allowed residents to vacation in a hospitality suite at another location for a week or two.

“We had many residents take us up on that,” Opaczewski said.

Las Vegas always has been a popular destination, she said, and residents have shown much interest in the new Palm Desert, CA, location. Each of the 13 properties has a unique appeal for travelers, Opaczewski said.
