Benedictine appoints Anneliese Peterson new COO

Anneliese Peterson will join Benedictine as chief operating officer. She will have oversight of more than 30 communities and all their respective functions.

Peterson began her senior living career at Marriott Senior Living 20 years ago. Most recently as COO at Walker Methodist, she led the day-to-day internal operations of the organization and managed external partnerships to support the creation and growth of new business lines. She led the transformation of the organization from predominantly skilled nursing to housing, and she grew Walker Methodist from 11 to 18 communities during her tenure.

Peterson has a master’s degree in industrial / organizational psychology from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology and organizational communication from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN. She is a licensed assisted living director.

Benedictine is No. 10 on the LeadingAge Ziegler 200 list of largest multi-site not-for-profit senior living and care organizations for 2022, released last week.

ProMedica announces Arturo Polizzi as next CEO, succeeding retiring Randy Oostra

Arturo Polizzi will be the next CEO of Toledo, OH-based ProMedica, effective Nov. 1, succeeding Randy Oostra, who is retiring after 25 years with the organization, which includes ProMedica Senior Care, formerly HCR Manor Care.

Oostra, ProMedica said, had had discussions about retirement and succession planning with the company’s board before the COVID-19 pandemic but chose to wait to retire due to the unprecedented public health issue. He and Polizzi have worked closely together over the past six months to ensure a smooth transition in leadership, according to the company.

Oostra began his tenure at ProMedica as vice president at ProMedica Toledo Hospital in 1997. Then he was the president of multiple ProMedica hospitals before being promoted to chief operating officer and president of the health system in 2006. He has been president and CEO since 2009.

Polizzi started his career in 1998 at ProMedica as an in-house attorney. Over the past 20 years, he has served in various strategic and operational roles at the organization, including associate general counsel, chief human resources officer and president of the metro Toledo ProMedica hospitals. Before returning to ProMedica as chief operating officer in 2020, he was the president and CEO at Christ Hospital Health Network in Cincinnati.

MBK Senior Living welcomes Becky Price as VP of sales and marketing

Rebecca “Becky” Price has been named vice president of sales and marketing of MBK Real Estate’s senior living division, Irvine, CA-based MBK Senior Living.

Price has more than 14 years of sales and leadership experience. In her previous role as senior national sales director for Sunrise Senior Living, some of Price’s accomplishments included designing and implementing a sales support program for communities in ground-up development, managing the company-wide internet sales program, increasing team productivity through training and targeted coaching, developing a program for inbound skilled nursing facility leads with a 6.6% year-over-year growth, and partnering with leadership teams in successfully reaching goals and objectives in challenging markets.

Arrow names Candace Johnson VP of HR, announces promotions

Candace Johnson has been named vice president of human resources and associate general counsel for Arrow Senior Living at its Missouri-based home office.

Also, Sophie Rich, Christie Masline and Matthew Enderle have been promoted to executive director positions, serving communities in Arrow’s Illinois and Ohio markets, respectively.

Johnson is a licensed, practicing attorney with expertise in employment law and litigation.

Rich began her career with Arrow as a regional operations specialist. She has been promoted to executive director and will lead operations at Carriage Court Senior Living in Hilliard, OH. She has worked in the senior living industry for seven years.

Masline has been promoted to Arrow’s regional operations team. Before transitioning into her new role, Masline was the lead executive director of Vitalia North Olmsted, North Olmsted, OH, a senior living community managed by Arrow. Masline celebrated two years with Arrow in July.

Enderle has been promoted to executive director at Cedar Trails Senior Living in Freeburg, IL. Before making the move to Cedar Trails, he supported operations as senior living director at Kingsland Walk and The Boulevard Senior Living of St. Charles, both located in the St. Louis area. Enderle has been part of the Arrow team for four years.

Presbyterian Senior Living announces SVP, VP promotions

Dan Krieger is being promoted to senior vice president of risk, compliance and business development, and Kate Andreacci has been promoted to vice president of life plan services, at Presbyterian Senior Living.

Krieger will be the primary interface with insurance and legal representatives, including leading and managing PSL’s relationships with external legal counsel.

Andreacci has been with PSL for more than five years and previously was a senior executive director, regional director of operations and most recently, regional vice president of operations. She will be responsible for the identification of future opportunities for expansion of programming, the development and implementation of strategy and the assurance of quality service for the company’s life plan communities and services.

Fernandez has been promoted to senior vice president of operations from vice president of operations.

Anthem Memory Care appoints regional director of sales and marketing

Jamie Floyd has been named regional director of sales and marketing for region 1 with Anthem Memory Care.

Floyd previously was vice president, sales, new developments, acquisitions and sales training for Atria Senior Living in Louisville, KY. She also previously was national sales specialist and regional sales manager with Atria and director of marketing and education for Odyssey Healthcare in Dallas.

Throughout her 37-year career in healthcare, Floyd has specialized in sales management, training and multi-site management in senior living, skilled nursing, hospice and acute hospital settings.

Floyd earned an undergraduate degree in social work from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO.

Lantern at Morning Pointe names Carol Guillemet new executive director

Carol Guillemet was named new executive director of The Lantern at Morning Pointe Lenoir City in Tennessee, a Morning Pointe Senior Living memory care community.

Guillemet comes to the community from Senior Helpers, where she was the human resources administrator. She has worked in the medical field her entire career, starting as an activity assistant in a nursing home. Also, she worked in hospital supplies and sterilization, at a podiatry clinic and for an x-ray service before starting in the senior living field as a business office director in 2010. She has been an executive director since 2015.

Guillemet is a certified dementia practitioner.

Long Creek welcomes Latosha Rotimi as executive director

Latosha Rotimi has been named executive director of Long Creek, a Civitas Senior Living community in Sunnyvale, TX.

Rotimi has worked for Civitas since 2019. She started out as the wellness director for a Mesquite, TX community, Cambridge Court. She began her career as a certified nursing assistant then worked as a medication aide. From there, she worked as a memory care director, an assisted wellness director and a weekend manager for several senior living communities.

Joan Cisneros has been named executive director of Watercrest Columbia, Columbia, SC.

Cisneros joins the Watercrest family having served her entire career in the healthcare industry, primarily in geriatrics, for more than 30 years. She has been a nurse since 1990, while successfully progressing as a director of nursing in both assisted living and memory care communities before stepping into the role of an administrator.

Spruce Point appoints Traci Waiss as new health and wellness director

Traci Waiss has been appointed as the new health and wellness director for Spruce Point Assisted Living and Memory Care.

Waiss most recently was a dialysis area team lead for four years. She worked mainly in hospice in oncology until moving to the West Coast and taking on the health services director position at Spruce Point, which she held from 2014 to 2017.

Sandee Ramanujam, MD, has been named medical director at Eastcastle Place. In this role, he is a resource for the Eastcastle Place staff as well as the residents.

Ramanujam and the nurse practitioner with whom he works, Emily Patzner, provide face-to-face interactions. He also works directly with the director of nursing on standardizing processes and enhancing policies and procedures for the health and rehabilitation center.

Vineyard Place appoints Melissa Williams as community relations director

Melissa Williams has been named community relations director for Vineyard Place, an Anthem Memory Care community in Murrieta, CA. In this position, she will be responsible for community outreach and marketing.

Williams previously was marketing and patient advocate for Hope Hospice in Sun City, CA. She also was a hospice account executive for Bridge Home Health & Hospice Murrieta and Temecula, CA. She brings more than six years of senior living experience to her new position. 

Williams earned an associate degree in business administration from Grossmont College.

Lenbrook names Brian Deason executive chef

Brian Deason has been named executive chef at Lenbrook, a life plan community in Atlanta.

Deason joins Lenbrook from Unidine. He has worked as a general manager for restaurants across South Carolina and Florida and served as executive chef in Denali, AK, and at a resort in the Arctic Circle.

Deason earned an associate degree in culinary arts and an undergraduate degree in food and beverage operations management at Johnson & Wales in Charleston, SC.

Elliot Fitzgerald named general counsel for Retirement Unlimited Inc.

Elliot Fitzgerald has been announced as general counsel for Retirement Unlimited Inc..

Fitzgerald brings more than 13 years of experience working within a corporate structure in legal matters. Prior to joining RUI, he served for five years as Assistant General Counsel, HR Risk and Compliance, at Markel Corporation. From 2009 to 2017, Elliot was a Director at Spotts Fain PC, where he represented employers in litigation and transactional employment matters.

Fitzgerald received his B.A. in History and B.S.B.A in Economics from the University of Florida and his law degree from George Mason University School of Law. 

Grace Management announces first recipient of Living Gracefully award

Parkrose Estates Executive Director Karen O’Hara is the first recipient of Grace Management Inc.’s Living Gracefully award.

O’Hara led the Parkrose Estates community after the community experienced a water line rupture earlier this year, displacing more than 90 residents. Residents returned home to Parkrose Estates on Sept. 26 following a renovation completed in partnership with local contractors.

The purpose of the Living Gracefully Award is to recognize company employees or constituents who exemplify the Grace culture of caring and leadership within their roles, responsibilities or involvement with Grace Management. The award may be given at any time throughout the year.

JAMDA names Barbara Resnick and Paul Katz new co-editors in chief

Barbara Resnick, PhD, CRNP, and Paul Katz, MD, CMD, have been named co-editors-in-chief of JAMDA, the monthly medical journal of AMDA–The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine.

Resnick is a professor in the Department of Organizational Systems and Adult Health at the University of Maryland School of Nursing, co-directs the Biology and Behavior Across the Lifespan Research Center of Excellence, holds the Sonya Ziporkin Gershowitz Chair in Gerontology, and does clinical work at Roland Park Place. 

Katz is professor and chair of the Department of Geriatrics at Florida State University College of Medicine. Before coming to FSU in May 2015, he was vice president of medical services at the Baycrest Health Center and professor of medicine at the University of Toronto.
