Erickson Senior Living promotes Chris Emmett to SVP of community operations

Chris Emmett has joined Erickson Senior Living’s corporate executive team as the newly promoted senior vice president of community operations.

Emmett’s career at Erickson began almost 28 years ago at the company’s flagship community, Charlestown, in Baltimore. He held leadership positions at Charlestown, Oak Crest (Parkville, MD) and Highland Springs (Dallas, TX) before being named regional vice president of operations in 2013.

Emmett holds an undergraduate degree in business administration from Towson University and a Master of Arts in management of aging services from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living appoints Adrienne Green, MD, as new CEO

Adrienne Green, MD, has been named the new CEO at The San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living, which includes the Frank Residences assisted living and memory care.

Green most recently was the chief medical officer for adult services and vice president for regulatory and medical affairs at UCSF Health for eight years. She is board-certified in internal medicine and has practiced as a hospitalist at UCSF since 1998.

Green received her undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University. She attended the Hahnemann University School of Medicine, now part of the Drexel University College of Medicine, and completed her residency in internal medicine at Stanford University.

Epoch Senior Living names Laurie Gerber chairperson

Laurie Gerber, wife of the late Epoch Senior Living founder and CEO Laurence “Larry” Gerber, has been named the company’s chairperson.

Gerber has more than two decades of experience as a business leader. Before her new role at Epoch, she was the chief financial officer and chief compliance officer for Great Hill Partners, the chief financial officer of a healthcare real estate investment trust, and a partner of pricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

Mills, a veteran in the senior living industry, has served for the past five years as a regional vice president of operations and now will support the entire Solstice portfolio of communities.

Nicholas “Nick” Pugliese has been appointed the new chief financial officer for The Masonic Health System of Massachusetts / The Overlook

Pugliese brings more than 20 years of experience in corporate finance and accounting to the role. His background includes working in financial and executive leadership roles at Stellar Health Management, Salter HealthCare, Winchester Hospital and State Street Bank and Trust Co. 

Pugliese received his MBA from Salem State University as well as an undergraduate degree in business administration, with a concentration in accounting, from Fitchburg State University.

Epoch Senior Living names Michael Toce VP of wellness services

Michael Toce has been named vice president of wellness services at Epoch Senior Living

Toce brings more than 15 years of senior living leadership experience to his new role. Most recently, he was the senior corporate director of care for a group of senior living communities in New England, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He was responsible for regulatory compliance, quality management techniques and resident safety. Prior to that, he was an administrator for the Yale University School of Medicine. 

Toce received a master’s degree in business administration and management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a Master of Health Administration from Tulane University and an associate degree in nursing / registered nursing degree from Quinnipiac University.

12 Oaks Senior Living adds nine to corporate team

12 Oaks Senior Living has announced the addition of nine people to its corporate team, including some promotions.

Paul Wang has joined the company as vice president of asset management. Wang has extensive experience in asset management, financial analysis and corporate development. Prior to joining 12 Oaks, he was a senior financial analyst at Newmark, where he focused on healthcare and alternative real estate assets.

Lydia Robertson joins 12 Oaks as a regional vice president. She has more than 20 years of experience in the senior living industry. Before joining 12 Oaks, Robertson was regional vice president at Holiday Retirement.

Chase Thomas has joined the company as a regional vice president. Previously a regional director of operations at Enlivant, Thomas oversaw financial policy and procedure development for 12 assisted living communities in East Texas and Louisiana.

Six additional professionals have been hired or promoted to further support the company’s expansion and growth of operational capabilities: Teresa Perez will assume the role of accounting specialist, and Elisha Kelby joins as clinical staff development director. Emily Hebert accepted a promotion to the role of accounting specialist due to “exceptional performance” at 12 Oaks’ Woodcreek Bend community. PA Drammeh joins 12 Oaks as a staff accountant. Debie Weaver reunites with 12 Oaks and will assume the role of solutions consultant. Stacey Bagley is joining the team as a talent acquisition coordinator.

Grandbridge’s Allen McMurtry retires following 35-year career in senior housing brokerage

Allen McMurtry has retired from Grandbridge Real Estate Capital after a gradual transition of his duties over the past few years.

Since 1987, McMurtry has dedicated his career exclusively to the sale of senior housing communities nationally. His 35-year career is marked with more than 200 sales across 35 states.

Kiley Ranch names John Murphy director of sales and marketing

John Murphy has been named director of sales and marketing at Kiley Ranch Senior Living, an Integral Senior Living community specializing in assisted living and memory care services.

Murphy comes to the role having worked in the senior living industry since 2019; he spent the previous 35 years working in mass media management and sales.

Massachusetts Assisted Living Association names Wendy Nowokunski board chair

In the wake of the death of Larry Gerber, the Massachusetts Assisted Living Association has appointed Wendy Nowokunski as its new board chair.

As president of Northbridge Communites, Nowokunski oversees traditional and memory care assisted living. Under her leadership, Northbridge has garnered multiple recognitions as one of the top women-led businesses in Massachusetts by the Boston Globe and is a recent recipient of Top Places to Work – USA recognition. Prior to co-founding Northbridge, Nowokunski held senior executive positions at Benchmark Senior Living and Newton Senior Living.

She is a 2020 McKnight’s Women of Distinction Hall of Honor inductee.

Ohio Assisted Living Association appoints Robert Cain, Heather Freemont board leaders

Robert Cain of Arrow Senior Living is the new chair of the Ohio Assisted Living Association Board of Trustees, and Heather Freemont of Maplewood Senior Living is the new vice chair.

Cain joined OALA’s Board of Trustees in 2020 as a representative of Arrow, where he is vice president of compliance, overseeing regulatory compliance throughout the 30-plus communities managed by the company.

Cain holds undergraduate degrees in business management and health policy / administration from Pennsylvania State University. He is a licensed nursing home administrator and has more than 13 years of experience in the senior living industry.

Freemont, the senior vice president of sales and marketing at Maplewood, has established a 30-year career in the industry that encompasses roles in sales, marketing and operations. She has an undergraduate degree in family and consumer studies, specializing in gerontology and long-term care administration, and is a licensed nursing home administrator.

Isakson family recognized by Atlanta Neuroscience Foundation

Isakson Living founder Andy Isakson accepted the Atlanta Neuroscience Foundation Community Leadership Award on behalf of the Isakson family for their spirit of service and giving and for their effects on the lives of people with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases.

World Neuroscience Day is an awareness campaign and conference created by ANF, an Atlanta-based 501(c)(3). To inspire the community and people touched by neurological diseases much as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, Epilepsy and Alzheimer’s, ANF’s one-day conference highlighted the need to maximize the advancement of treatment and diagnosis and to improve outcomes through education and service that improve quality of life for people living with neurological diseases.

The Isakson Initiative, established by Andy Isakson’s brother, former US Sen. Johnny Isakson following his retirement due to Parkinson’s, is the continuation of the Isakson family’s lifelong commitment to service and dedication, notably as champions for advancements in biomedical research and development.
