Ebenezer Senior Living announces Brett Anderson as next president and CEO

Brett K. Anderson will join Edina, MN-based Ebenezer Senior Living as president and CEO. July 29, he will succeed Ebenezer’s current CEO, Jon Lundberg, who is retiring in September.

Anderson most recently worked at Ecumen as senior vice president and chief operations and strategy officer. He is a registered nurse who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and a master’s degree in nursing leadership and management. He is pursuing a PhD in management and public service.

Redeemer Health appoints Gregory Wozniak president and CEO

Gregory T. Wozniak has been named Redeemer Health’s new president and CEO following Michael B. Laigan’s retirement announcement for July. 

Wozniak has two decades of experience in healthcare executive leadership, most recently serving as president and CEO of Denali Health since 2015.

Meadowbrook, PA-based Redeemer’s system includes four senior living and care communities with offerings ranging from active adult, independent living, personal care, memory care, skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation and respite stays.

Merrill Gardens announces Melanie Werdel, Madisen Medley as VPs

Melanie Wedel joins Seattle-based Merrill Gardens and sister company Pillar Properties as vice president of risk management, and Madisen Medley joins Merrill Gardens as vice president of business development. 

Wedel previously worked as a consultant to senior living companies and partnered with Washington State University to help develop the Granger Cobb Institute for Senior Living.

For 10 years prior, Medley worked with Leisure Care, most recently as vice president of new business. She received her master of business administration from the University of Washington.

RUI welcomes back Tom Fitzmaurice as VP of sales

Tom Fitzmaurice has rejoined Roanoke, VA-based Retirement Unlimited Inc. as the vice president of sales for the Northern Region. In this role, he will design sales strategies for RUI communities in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Fitzmaurice has more than 15 years of senior living experience. He earned his undergraduate degree from St. Joseph’s College in Windham, ME, and Northwood University in Midland, MI, under the Michigan State University LC Business Program.

Aspenwood appoints Amber McDaniel VP of resident experience

Amber McDaniel has been appointed vice president of resident experience at The Aspenwood Company. It’s a newly created position at the Houston-based organization designed to enhance the quality of life and satisfaction of residents. 

McDaniel previously worked at Atria Management Co. as divisional Engage Life innovation director. She received a bachelor’s degree in gerontology from the University of South Florida.

LCS names Jim Pusateri chief sales officer

Jim Pusateri has been announced as Des Moines, IA-based LCS’s new chief sales officer, a new position for the company in which he will work closely with the LCS executive team, business development, and sales and marketing leaders to “develop, drive and elevate initiatives that align with the company’s occupancy goals.”

He brings more than 30 years of senior living sales and operations leadership, including time at Brookdale Senior Living, to the role.

Pusateri was an executive board member for the American Seniors Housing Association and has worked with Argentum and A Place for Mom. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Kansas.

Madelyn Hill has joined Maple Grove, MN-based Grace Management as an operations analyst. 

Hill recently graduated from Cornell University’s Nolan School of Hotel Administration. During her time at school, she participated in multiple internships with Loveday & Co. in London.

Wilkins has been working in senior living for five years and was a director of nursing for four years prior to the appointment.

Kelly Andrews has been named executive director at Juniper Village at Preston Hollow in Dallas.

She has more than two decades of experience in the sales and healthcare industry, including serving as an executive director for Five Star Senior Living, a regional director at A Place for Mom and a healthcare manager at Truehold. Andrews earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Emerson College.

Carin Brastow has been appointed business development director at The Residence at Bala Cynwyd, Bala Cynwyd, PA.

Most recently, she worked as a sales counselor at Echo Lake Senior Living. She also had a career as a theater manager, working for the John F. Kennedy Center, the Opera Company of Philadelphia and other entities. 

The Residence at Bala Cynwyd is operated by LCB Senior Living.

8 elected to Brookdale Senior Living board

Jordan R. Asher, Lucinda M. Baier, Frank M. Bumstead, Claudia Napal Drayton, Victoria L. Freed, Elizabeth B. Mace, Denise W. Warren and Lee S. Wielansky were elected to the Brookdale Senior Living Board of Directors at the company’s annual meeting June 18. Each will hold office for a one-year term expiring at the 2025 annual meeting of stockholders.

Baier is president and CEO of the Brentwood, TN-based company and a 2020 McKnight’s Women of Distinction Hall of Honor inductee.

Drayton and Mace are new to the board. Marcus E. Bromley and Guy Sansone, nonexecutive chairman of the board, notified the company earlier this year that they would not be seeking re-election.

According to a proxy statement, Drayton is the former chief financial officer of Quantum-Si, a publicly traded life sciences company, and Nuwellis, a publicly traded medical device company. She also formerly held CFO positions with medical device company Medtronic and was an audit manager for Arthur Anderson.

Drayton holds an undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and an MBA from the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. She also serves on the board of 3D Systems.

Mace is the former chief economist and director of research and analytics for the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing & Care. Her career also includes positions at AEW Capital Management and the AEW Research Group, Standard & Poor’s DRI/McGraw-Hill, Crocker Bank, the National Commission on Air Quality, the Brookings Institute and Boston Edison.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from the Mount Holyoke College and a Master’s of Science degree in applied economics from the University of California. She also earned a Certified Business Economist designation from the National Association of Business Economists.

Mace is a member of the Institutional Real Estate Americas Editorial Board. In 2020, she was inducted into the McKnight’s Women of Distinction Hall of Honor.

After the annual meeting, the board appointed Warren as the nonexecutive chairman of the board.

Scott White, Brad Benbow, Adlai Chester, Shaun Hawkins and Gail Steinel were elected to the board of Fishers, IN-based Invesque at its June 20 annual meeting.

Karin Yoshida has been selected as the winner of the Granger Cobb Institute of Senior Living at Washington State University’s 2024 LCS Foundation University Scholarship. 

Yoshida is studying hospitality business management and senior living management.
