LCS hires Joe Weisenburger as vice president, senior director of business development

Joe Weisenburger will join LCS of Des Moines, IA, as vice president, senior director of business development, effective July 6.

Weisenburger will succeed Earl Wade, who will retire in January. In his new role, Weisenburger will lead business development initiatives to grow top-line revenue for all business lines in the company. 

Previously, Weisenburger was senior vice president of business development for real estate investment trust Welltower. There, he was part of the management team that helped expand the company from $1 billion to $30 billion in assets. He has 23 years of experience in the field, structuring billions of dollars in senior housing investments. 

Weisenburger serves on the American Seniors Housing Association Public Policy Committee. He holds an MBA from Ohio State University.

Sloane Buchanan joins Cadence Living as regional VP of operations for the west region

Sloane Buchanan has joined Cadence Living, Scottsdale, AZ, as regional vice president of operations for the west region. 

Buchanan will have principal responsibility over operations of the company-managed communities in Southern California. She has worked in senior living for the past eight years and before joining Cadence served in both regional operations and regional sales roles with Frontier Management.

Buchanan also has served in various operational roles with Holiday Retirement, Brookdale Senior Living and Prestige Care, and she has owned her own senior living consulting company. She has a degree in marketing and will be based in the Los Angeles area.

LifeSpire, Pinnacle form Senior Living Partners of Virginia, hire two

William Mayes and Jennifer Rauschenberg, OTR, have been hired as CEO and administrator and director of clinical services, respectively, of Senior Living Partners, a newly launched joint venture of LifeSpire of Virginia and Pinnacle Living, both based in Glen Allen, VA, which will provide home care. 

Mayes most recently was senior vice president at WesleyLife in Des Moines, IA. He has been a senior executive for both regional and national multi-site home health and hospice care organizations for three decades.

Rauschenberg has more than 25 years of home health clinical and leadership experience. Most recently, she was director of clinical operations for a large home health provider.

Anthem Memory Care names Theresa Bigalk executive director

Theresa Bigalk has been named executive director of Cascade Creek, a new Anthem Memory Care community located in Rochester, MN. Cascade Creek is projected to open this summer.

In her new role, Bigalk will oversee daily operations and care at the community. Previously, she was the operations manager for Jaybird Senior Living. Bigalk has two decades of experience, including serving as a senior living operations executive and director of social services. She has an undergraduate degree in social work from Winona State University. 

The Heritage at Brentwood promotes Molly Mitchell to fitness manager

Molly B. Mitchell has been promoted to the National Institute for Fitness and Sports’ new fitness manager at The Heritage at Brentwood, Brentwood, TN.

Mitchell joined the company in March 2019 as a health fitness specialist. In her new role, she will oversee the HealthyLife Center, managing the center’s membership and data services, organizing recreational and fitness incentive programs to attract new members, and designing and implementing both in-person and virtual resident fitness programs. Additionally, she will conduct senior fitness evaluations and pre-screen potential members in accordance with the American College of Sports Medicine recommendations.

Mitchell plans to raise awareness of the company’s recreational sports amenities, which include a nine-hole putting green, bocce court, badminton court and corn hole. 

Mitchell is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Safety and Health Institute. She also is a certified exercise physiologist and has certifications in basic life support, basic first aid and emergency oxygen.

David Brown was hired as executive director and administrator of Sam Swope Care Center, based at Masonic Homes Kentucky’s Louisville campus. Brown formerly was the healthcare administrator for The Stayton at Museum Way, a continuing care retirement community.

LeadingAge Texas welcomes Rodney Rueter as new board chair

Rodney Rueter, president and CEO of Lutheran Sunset Ministries, has joined LeadingAge Texas as board chair. 

Rueter started his career in senior living with Lutheran Sunset Ministries in 1997, where he started in accounting and moved up to chief financial officer. He has served in various capacities for the association for more than 15 years including being actively involved in Capitol Days, the leadership conferences and the state and national annual conferences. He has also served as a network representative, on the finance and public policy committees and on the board of directors.

Greystone hires Sampada D’silva as deputy chief credit officer for healthcare finance

Sampada D’silva joins Greystone, New York, NY, as a deputy chief credit officer. She will report to Scott Thurman, the company’s head of credit for the FHA lending platform.

In this position, D’silva will work to meet the growing demands for Greystone’s industry-leading debt offerings in healthcare, including skilled nursing and assisted living assets. 

D’silva has more than two decades of experience in senior housing and healthcare investment and lending. Before her current role, she was a senior managing director for Cambridge Realty Capital Companies. There, she focused on evaluating and closing senior housing and healthcare acquisitions as well as sale and leaseback opportunities. She has a finance degree from the University of Mumbai and an MBA from the Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University in Chicago.

Nixon Peabody chooses Matthew Mullen to lead community development finance practice

Matthew Mullen has been chosen by Nixon Peabody, Washington DC, as head of the global law firm’s community development finance practice, geared toward helping clients structure, negotiate and close tax credit transactions that create positive effects on communities all over the country. 

Mullen represents tax credit investors and developers looking to use a variety of financing tools. He advises clients in all aspects of the project development process, focusing on four key areas: low-income housing tax credits, new markets tax credits, historic rehabilitation tax credits, and renewable energy tax credits. He also works with clients to manage their investments, help them mitigate risk and exit investments following the conclusion of the investment’s regulatory compliance period. 

Propel Insurance hires Chris Hayes as national account sales executive

Chris Hayes has been hired by Propel Insurance, Tacoma, WA, as national account sales executive and equity member of the team.

Hayes has almost 30 years of experience working with large organizations in the senior living, hospitality and construction industries. In his new role, he will help lead the team’s continued expansion in Georgia and across the southeastern region.

He holds an undergraduate degree in finance, risk management and insurance from the University of Georgia.

Eldermark welcomes Jaime Ojeda as president and CEO

Jaime Ojeda has joined Eldermark of Minnetonka, MN, as president and CEO. He is succeeding Craig Patnode. In his new role, Ojeda will be responsible for the company’s strategic direction and direct its ongoing investments in product innovation, world-class service and support. 

Ojeda has an array of leadership experience, including past roles managing software as a service business in more than 35 countries, as well as completing dozens of successful acquisitions and partner alliances to accelerate growth. His proven ability to grow healthcare businesses and data-driven, results-focused approach will translate well into his new role. 

Before joining Eldermark, Ojeda was the chief revenue officer and chief operating officer of SaaS analytics company LUMEDX Corp. He also has held senior leadership roles in many companies, from midsize to Fortune 100.
