Church Homes appoints William Thompson president and CEO

William Thompson has been named Hartford, CT-based Church Homes’ new president and CEO. 

In February, he succeeded former President and CEO Patrick J. Gilland. Thompson previously held the position of vice president and administrator at Church Homes for eight years and before that spent more than 20 years working in senior living and nursing facilities in Connecticut. 

Church Homes has two retirement communities in Connecticut. 

Aspenwood company names Terry Purchal CFO

Terry Purchal has joined The Aspenwood Company as chief financial officer. 

In this role for the Houston-based company, he will oversee financial operations and work with the executive team to promote The Aspenwood Company’s long-term goals. The company currently has 20 communities in the southern United States.

Purchal has more than 25 years of leadership experience, including his most recent role as CFO for Legacy Senior Communities.

Purchal attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business.

Former Enlivant CEO Dan Guill to become CEO of Athletico Physical Therapy

Dan Guill will become CEO of Oak Brook, IL-based Athletico Physical Therapy on July 8, succeeding company founder Mark Kaufman, who will remain executive chairman. 

Guill previously served as CEO, and before that chief operating officer and president, of senior living operator Enlivant, which no longer is in business. 

Guill graduated from Davidson College and received his MBA from Harvard Business School.

Hebrew SeniorLife promotes Dr. Ernest Mandel, Kim Brooks to EVP positions

Ernest Mandel, MD, is the new executive vice president of healthcare, and Kim Brooks is the new executive vice president of senior living, at Boston-based Hebrew Senior Life

Hebrew SeniorLife is an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, with seven campuses in the Boston area. 

Mandel, who has worked at Hebrew SeniorLife since 2012, most recently was chief medical and quality officer, a role he will continue along with his new one.

Brooks joined SeniorLife in 2013 and has served as both vice president of senior living and chief operating officer for senior living.

WesleyLife Community for Healthy Living names Abby Harlacher as Edgewater community’s executive director

Abby Harlacher has been named executive director of WesleyLife Community for Healthy Living’s Edgewater campus. 

Harlacher has worked at WesleyLife for 16 years, beginning on the wellness team and eventually being promoted to associate executive director of the Edgewater campus in 2022. 

Harlacher received an undergraduate degree from Iowa State University and is currently in the master’s program in health, healthcare administration and healthcare management at the University of Phoenix.

Morning Pointe of Danville Assisted Living hires Lisa Keller and Julie Popplewell as directors

Morning Pointe of Danville is opening an assisted living campus in the fall and has announced Lisa Keller as the senior executive director and Julie Popplewell as the community relations director. 

Keller opened the original Morning Pointe of Danville in 2016 and most recently was the executive director at Morning Pointe of Frankfort, KY.

Popplewell has worked in senior living since 2009 and graduated from Lexington Community College with associates degrees in business development and marketing and medical assisting.

Kisco announces Alphonso Westley II as general manager of Fitzgerald of Palisades

Alphonso Westley II has been named general manager of The Fitzgerald of Palisades, a Kisco Signature community set to open early next year in Washington, DC.

Capital Funding Group named David Casden VP of capital markets distribution

David Casden has joined Capital Funding Group as vice president of capital markets distribution.

Casden formerly was managing director of sales and trading/pricing at Lument Real Estate Capital – Lument Securities. He brings almost two decades of experience to CFG.

At CFG, he will lead the augmentation of loan distribution efforts, with a primary focus on establishing capital markets relationships and implementing structured distribution vehicles to complement the company’s existing loan syndication efforts. He will work closely with the loan origination teams to inform them of market feedback to support the growth of CFG’s HUD and gency business lines.

Casden holds a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the Yeshiva University Sy Syms School of Business.

Danish Home Board re-elects Karen Frink as president of Resident Council

Karen Frink has been re-elected as president of The Danish Home of Chicago’s Resident Council for another two-year term. 

Frink served on The Danish Home Board of Directors for 20 years and formerly worked as an American Foundry Society editor.
