Ascension Living names Erin Shadbolt CEO

Erin Shadbolt has been promoted to CEO at St. Louis-based Ascension Living. She also will continue her role as vice president of post-acute and at-home services. 

Shadbolt joined Ascension in 2022 and also previously was chief nursing officer of post-acute and at-home services and interim chief operating officer at Ascension Living. Before Ascension, she worked as a nurse administrator in the Mayo Clinic Health System.

Shadbolt received her master’s and bachelor’s degrees in nursing from Weber State University in Ogden, UT. She also is a nursing fellow of the Golisano Institute for Intellectual and Developmental Disability Nursing at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, NY. She recently completed a certificate in healthcare innovation and implementation through Indiana University.

Juniper announces Chuck Hastings as president, Amy Purcell as VP of sales

Chuck Hastings, the chief financial officer at Bloomfield, NJ-based Juniper Communities, has assumed an expanded role as president, and Amy Purcell has been promoted to vice president of sales.

Lynne S. Katzmann, Juniper’s founder and board chair, continues as CEO.

Hastings, who also will continue to have the title of CFO, has a 27-year tenure at Juniper. Earlier this year, he was named a McKnight’s Pinnacle Award winner in the “Setting the Standard” category.

Purcell’s promotion comes “following her exemplary contributions over the past three years,” according to Juniper.

Aegis Living appoints CFO, COO, SVP of operations

Jamie Ranzan has been appointed chief financial officer, Troy Nelson has been named chief operating officer, and Kevin Hunter has been named senior vice president of operations at Bellevue, WA-based Aegis Living.

Ranzan previously was president at Solera Senior Living and CFO/COO at Morningstar Senior Living. She has more than two decades of finance leadership in senior housing.

Nelson formerly worked in operational leadership at both Nike and Nordstrom.

Hunter has worked in the senior living industry for 30 years, including in roles at Sunrise Senior Living, Atria, Watermark and Hearth Management.

Trinity Health announces Daniel Drake as CEO

Daniel Drake has been named CEO at Trinity Health’s three national continuing care organizations: Trinity Health Senior Communities, Trinity Health at Home and Trinity Health Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly. 

Drake has 25 years of leadership experience in long-term and community-based services. He joined Livonia, MI-based Trinity Health in 2014. He previously was CEO of the University of Pennsylvania’s Program for All Inclusive Care for Elders.

Drake began his career as a registered nurse and holds an MSA and a BS degree from West Chester University.

Anthem promotes Laporsha Chavers to ED at Porter Place

Laporsha Chavers has been promoted to executive director for Porter Place, an Anthem Memory Care community in Tinley Park, IL. In this capacity, she will oversee all care, operations and programming. 

Chavers previously was associate executive director for the community. She also previously was associate executive director for Grace Point Place, an Anthem community in Oak Lawn, IL.

The certified dementia care practitioner brings more than 18 years of senior living experience to her new role. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Governors State University in University Park, IL, and an MBA from Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN.

Edgehill hires IT associates, transportation supervisor

Jamal Fowler has been promoted to transportation supervisor at Edgehill, a continuing care retirement community operated by Benchmark Senior Living in Stamford, CT. Additionally, Sofia Santiago and Dequan Clarke have been hired as IT associates. 

Fowler has been at Edgehill since 2019, working as a concierge, an assistant in the activities department and a driver.

Clarke is pursuing an education in cybersecurity, and Santiago received a degree in business administration and marketing at Southern Connecticut State University.

IntelyCare appoints Matthew Levesque as CEO

Matthew Levesque has joined IntelyCare as CEO and board member. 

Levesque has worked in healthcare IT for almost 30 years, previously serving as the president and chief operating officer of Groups Recover Together. He received a Bachelor of Science in finance from Siena College in Loudonville, NY.

IntelyCare is a healthcare talent platform working to connect nurses with work opportunities. 

Aline announces Nitin Somalwar as chief technology officer, Jeremy Burtel as CFO

Nitin Somalwar has been appointed chief technology officer at Aline, a senior living software company. Jeremy Burtel has been announced as chief financial officer. 

Somalwar previously held leadership positions at Bottomline Technologies and Salesforce. He received an undergraduate degree in computer science from California State University, Fullerton, and an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management. 

Burtel previously was CFO at RxLightning, Linnworks and Foundation Radiology Group. He received his undergraduate degree in accounting and economics from Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY, and his MBA from Indiana University Southeast.

JLL hires 2 directors to Value and Risk Advisory platform

Will Childs has been hired as senior director, and Brian Spillers has been hired as director, at JLL’s Value and Risk Advisory platform. 

Childs previously was a partner and executive VP at OHC Advisors, and his role at JLL will focus on senior housing valuation and market study services. He received a degree in business administration and economics from the University of Georgia. 

In his new role at JLL, Spillers will provide valuation services for properties in the healthcare sector. He previously worked at CBRE as a vice president for the healthcare valuation and advisory group.

Greg Bertagnoli has joined Richmond, VA-based SeniorComm as a new partner. 

Bertagnoli has more than 25 years of experience in senior living technologies, previously serving as vice president of strategic partnerships at both Eldermark and SimplyConnect. 

SeniorComm is a marketing and communication company specializing in the senior living industry.

Good Samaritan Society elects new board members

Ryan Austad, Jean Bokinskie, PhD, and Dana Ritchie have been elected to the Sioux Falls, SD-based Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society’s board of directors. Their terms began June 17.

Austad is the president and chief operating officer of Austad’s Golf in Sioux Falls. 

Bokinskie is the program director of the Parish Nurse Ministry and former professor and chair of nursing and current emeritus-in-residence for the nursing department at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. 

Ritchie is the associate vice president of constituency services and workforce for the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living.
