Trinity Health Senior Communities promotes Stacey Johnson to COO

Stacey Johnson has been named chief operating officer at Trinity Health Senior Communities

After serving in South Bend, IN, as director of nursing at Holy Cross Village at Notre Dame and instructor at Ivy Tech College, Johnson became a regional clinical manager for THSC in 2013. Since then, she has progressed through regional and national clinical leadership roles including her appointment as chief nursing officer in 2022.

Johnson holds a BSN. degree from Indiana University, an MSN degree from Bethel College, and a DNP with a focus on public health leadership from Indiana State University. She is a previous recipient of the LeadingAge Michigan Leadership in Action Award, was an Age of Excellence Honoree and was recognized as a featured Standard of Excellence Team Member by the Institute of Post Acute Care.

NHC promotes Tim Shelly to SVP of operations

Tim Shelly has been appointed senior vice president of operations at National Healthcare Corp.

He will oversee various operational aspects of NHC’s centers and service lines. NHC affiliates operate for themselves and third parties 26 assisted living communities, five independent living communities, 68 skilled nursing facilities, three behavioral health hospitals, 35 home care agencies and 30 hospice agencies. 

Shelly has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry, with management and operational oversight.

Megan Ulrich has been named the vice president of marketing and public relations at BHI Senior Living

Most recently, Ulrich had been the corporate digital marketing director for BHI, where she played a role in advancing the organization’s digital strategies. Before her tenure at BHI, she held the position of vice president of marketing and business development at Maple Knoll Communities, overseeing marketing, development and communication efforts, as well as resident life. 

Ulrich holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational communications from Ohio University and an MBA from Northern Kentucky University.

Morning Pointe taps Josh Lowe as regional VP for Smoky Region

Josh Lowe has been named the regional vice president of Morning Pointe Senior Living’s Smoky Region. 

In this role, Lowe oversees daily operations at 10 assisted living and memory care communities in East Tennessee – in Clinton, Powell, Lenoir City, Knoxville and Greeneville. 

Lowe began his career in long-term care as a certified nursing assistant while he was in high school. He became a nursing home administrator in 2003 and then moved into senior living in 2008. He has been an executive director and region vice president in senior living for more than 15 years.

Lowe earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from East Tennessee State University.

Marquis announces Alan Eserner, Jules Dewey as VPs

Alan Eserner and Jules Dewey have been named vice presidents of operations and sales, respectively, at Marquis Health Consulting Services, Brick, NJ. They are charged with overseeing a growing portfolio of more than a dozen Marquis-serviced assisted living and independent living client communities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland. 

Eserner, a licensed nursing home administrator, has more than 15 years of executive and management experience. He joined Marquis in 2021.

Dewey brings more than 15 years of sales and leadership experience in the long-term care industry – including multiple executive positions – to her new role. 

Cushman & Wakefield names Matthew Vance a director

Matthew Vance has been named the director of the valuation and advisory group at Cushman & Wakefield as part of its senior living and care specialty practice.

Yance has nine years of experience focusing on the senior living sector. Previously, he worked for Newmark, where he co-led the senior housing and healthcare team.

Samantha Huggins has been named the Vibrant Life director, and Joseph Gutierrez has been named building director at Sage Valley Senior Living, Pflugerville, TX. 

Huggins earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and social work from Texas State University, and her background includes service-centered, multigenerational collaborations.

Gutierrez worked in several industries before working in building services for nearly 20 years. His previous experience includes 12 years of working within healthcare facilities, starting from groundskeeping to general maintenance and director of facilities.

MuhammadAli Farooqi has been named the associate executive director at Eagle’s Trace, a Houston continuing care retirement community managed by Erickson Senior Living.

Farooqi brings 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry to the CCRC, including 12 years at his previous employer, Extended Stay America.

Farooqi earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from the State University of New York at Albany and a hospitality management certificate from Cornell University.

Karen Evangelista has been named community relations director for Emerald Place, an Anthem Memory Care community in Glenview, IL. In this position, she will be responsible for community outreach and marketing.

Evangelista brings more than 11 years of senior living experience to this position. She previously was sales assistant/move in coordinator for American House in Oak Park, IL. She also was director of social services for Dimensions Living in Prospect Heights, IL.

Evangelista earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology, with a minor in business and economics, from North Park University in Chicago.

Kitt has been with the RUI legacy company for the past 27 years, where she began as an administrator in training and worked her way up through various positions, such as administrator, vice president of operations, director of special projects, executive director of Lifeworks services and LIMITLESS intern coordinator before reaching her current position.  A first-generation college student, she received her bachelor’s degree in business administration, her master’s degree in public health and her PhD in healthcare administration.

National Center for Assisted Living bestows 2024 awards

The National Center for Assisted Living announced the recipients of its awards program Aug. 7. Each year, the association recognizes individuals who represent the best in the assisted living sector. Those honorees are deemed to have demonstrated a commitment to excellence and to improving the lives of older adults and individuals with disabilities in their communities.

The 2024 NCAL Awards categories and recipients:

FHCA elects Julie Morris as president, bestows awards

Julie Morris has been elected president of the Florida Health Care Association, which bestowed numerous awards during its recent annual conference and trade show. 

Morris is vice president of operations for Aston Health, which manages 47 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities across Florida. She has worked in long-term care for more than 30 years, both in nursing home administration and regional operations.
