The Pennant Group will set up a service center in Connecticut and provide management and consulting services to Hartford HealthCare at Home, the home health and hospice affiliate of Hartford HealthCare, the Eagle, ID-based holding company announced Tuesday.

Founded in 1901, the not-for-profit Hartford HealthCare at Home operates eight locations in Connecticut. The company has more than 1,000 employees and had more than 33,000 home health admissions and approximately 4,000 hospice admissions over the past 12 months, according to Pennant.

The Pennant Group said it will establish a service center in the Nutmeg State that will serve as a base of support for New England operations. The service center will provide financial support services, human resources advising, information technology and other management consulting services for HHCAH.

“We have deep admiration for Hartford HealthCare and the commitment to home-based care it has long demonstrated through HHCAH,” Pennant CEO Brent Guerisol stated in Tuesday’s announcement. “We are thrilled to collaborate with Hartford HealthCare and contribute home health and hospice expertise to Hartford HealthCare’s impressive integrated care system.”

Hartford HealthCare President and CEO Jeffrey A. Flaks said the arrangement with Pennant will bring jobs to Connecticut in addition to expanding Pennant’s operating model to the East Coast. He said the collaboration will enable Hartford HealthCare’s home health and hospice affiliate to expand its offerings and programs.

“Hartford HealthCare is a world-class healthcare system dedicated to providing the highest quality of care, and our collaboration will offer opportunities to improve clinical outcomes, share operational best practices, and further develop a robust continuum of care that will improve the lives of patients and their loved ones in Connecticut,” Pennant President and Chief Operations Officer John Gochnour said.

Pennant’s independent operating subsidiaries provide healthcare services through 113 home health and hospice agencies and 54 senior living communities located throughout Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
