Senior living communities based in Florida took the top spots on Fortune’s Best Workplaces in Aging Services: Senior Housing and Care lists, released Thursday.

The Palace Group, based in Miami and founded in 1980, maintained its status from 2023 as the Best Large Workplace in Aging Services, whereas newcomer The Village at Gainesville, a SantaFe Senior Living community founded in 1986, was named Best Small and Medium Workplace in Aging Services. SantaFe Senior Living is based in Gainesville.

Fortune ranked 25 organizations on each list. Companies on the list of large workplaces have 1,000 or more employees, whereas those on the small and medium-sized employer list have 10 to 999 workers. Fortune also recognized 15 home care companies on a separate list.

Best Workplaces in Aging Services recognition is based on an analysis of survey responses from more than 181,000 employees in the long-term care industry. Fortune partnered with Great Place to Work to survey employees about their workplace experiences. Eligibility is based on companies that are Great Place to Work-certified, have 10 or more employees in the United States, and provide senior living and care or at-home care.

Brightview Senior Living ranked No. 2 on the large workplaces list, marking the organization’s sixth year on the list, with a ranking of first or second place in all six years. According to the company, 85% of Brightview employees who responded to the survey called the company a great place to work, 91% said they felt welcome when joining the company, 90% said they felt good about how the company contributes to the company and 88% said their work has special meaning.

Brightview President and CEO Doug Dollenberg said the company was “thrilled” to be on the large employer list again. “With a sixth straight year of recognition, we see that our people-first culture and commitment to growing our associates are a winning combination, resulting in excellent service for residents and families. This award is one that’s equally shared among our 6,000 associates and celebrates their dedication to enriching our vibrant communities,” he said.

Other repeat employers to the Top 10 large employers list were Vi Living (No. 4 last year), Wesley Enhanced Living (No. 5 last year) and Trilogy Health Services (No. 6 last year). Newcomers to the Top 10 were Allegro Senior Living, National HealthCare Corp., the Aspenwood Co. (No. 15 last year), Senior Living Communities (No. 19 last year) and Five Star Senior Living.

On the small and medium-sized workplaces list, Arcadia Communities (No. 5 last year) and Thrive Senior Living (No. 2 last year) made repeat appearances in the top 10.
