As baby boomers continue to move into senior living communities, it will be imperative to create settings that cater to all of their needs: physical, mental and emotional. Thankfully for residents at Mirabella at Arizona State University, Lindsey Beagley is on the case.

Beagley, the senior director of lifelong university engagement, joined Mirabella after completing a Master of Public Administration degree. She was instrumental in helping the continuing care retirement community open and subsequently integrate into campus life organically. Her initiatives — such as the student Artists-in-Residence program, which allows four doctoral-level students to live at the community and implement approximately 400 arts and culture events annually for and with the residents — serve to close the gap between generations.

Beagley’s leadership at Mirabella has secured several industry recognitions, including the LeadingAge Arizona Innovation Award in both 2022 and 2023 as well as an honorable mention from Mather in its 2022 Promising Practices Awards.

“In her short time working in the senior living field, Lindsey has demonstrated the distinct ability to create impactful programs, develop and execute successful campaigns, identify and foster unique partnerships, and be a source of thought leadership for project stakeholders and others in the field,” her colleagues said. “More importantly, she has made a profound impact on the lives of the older adults she works with. Her contributions stem from a rare combination of commitment, passion, curiosity and ability. The field is lucky to have a rising star like Lindsey in its ranks.”

  • Beagley currently is a member of the AgeFriendly University global secretariat, which leads the movement of academic institutions all over the world to embrace and include older adult learners and forge intergenerational connections.
  • She was recognized by the Phoenix Business Journal in its 2021 40 Under 40 awards and by the Greater Phoenix Chamber as a finalist in the 2022 ATHENA awards.
  • She is a returned US Peace Corps volunteer (2006-2008), having served in Honduras and Central America.
