As health insurers expand their Medicare Advantage health plan offerings to seniors, with new regulations allowing for added benefits, these plans could become an even greater draw for seniors should a Joe Biden administration convince Congress to lower the eligibility of Medicare to 60.

Look for the former vice president, during the final month of the presidential campaign, to vigorously promote his healthcare proposal. Biden’s plan would give Americans aged 60 to 64 the option of buying into Medicare and let insurers offer Medicare Advantage at a younger age.

The Trump administration supports Medicare Advantage but doesn’t have a plan to lower the age of eligibility. Meanwhile, health insurers haven’t endorsed either candidate.
