Ground was broken Aug. 6 in Houston for the Montrose Center’s Law Harrington Senior Living Center, which will have 112 one- and two-bedroom independent living apartments for low-income individuals and couples who are aged 62 or more years.
The community will be open to all seniors who meet the income guidelines — eligible residents will not spend more than 30% of their income on rent — but the community will have specific services and programming for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning seniors as well as older adults living with HIV.
Features and amenities will include a dining and assembly hall, activity rooms, a library and lounge area, laundry facilities, outdoor recreational space, and computer and fitness facilities.
The building is scheduled to open in 2021.
