A home care services provider in Mandan, ND, allegedly submitted $76,000 worth of fraudulent Medicaid claims for an impossible amount of hours worked in a single day, according to an affidavit filed by the state’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, the Bismarck Tribune reports.

Three claims were submitted by Rebecca Fruge while her client was hospitalized and unable to receive services from her, the MFCU said. In addition, investigators said that Fruge submitted claims for three single days’ work showing more hours than there are in a day: 39.5 hours of services on May 1, 2019; 33.75 hours on May 2, 2019; and 32.25 hours of services on May 3, 2019. Authorities said it was the impossible hour amounts submitted that initially triggered the audit.

Fruge told investigators she wasn’t sure where the documentation was because she was in the middle of a move, but she said she did not submit claims that were incorrect or fraudulent, according to investigators. She was ordered to appear in court at a later date.
