Five Star Senior Living is joining the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Age Lab consortium, the firm announced.

The MIT AgeLab is a multidisciplinary research program that works with business groups and others to improve life quality for older people and those who care for them.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with the AgeLab and other partners to further deepen our understanding of the changing needs of older adults and how we can support them to best address these needs,” said Katie Potter, the firm’s president and CEO.

The AgeLab was created in 1999 as a way to invent new ideas and creatively translate technologies into practical solutions that improve people’s health and functioning, according to its founders.

Five Star is based in Newton, MA. The firm serves more than 25,000 older adults through its more than 280 senior living communities and Ageility physical therapy gyms, which are spread across 30 states.
