A man recently fired from an assisted living community in Burbank, CA, will be arraigned on murder charges next month in connection with a fatal stabbing of the community’s manager.

Paul Lawrence Dunbar Haney IV, who police said was recently terminated from his job at Burbank Retirement Villa West, is accused of stabbing to death the 27-year-old manager of the Burbank Retirement Villa West on July 30, according to the Burbank Police Department

Officers responded to an attempted murder and found the woman with several stab wounds to her arms and neck. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. 

Responding officers saw a male matching a description of the suspect running from the area, armed with a knife. Police detained the man after a struggle and recovered two knives as evidence.

According to police, the suspect and the victim knew each other. Haney is charged with murder and is being held without bail. He will be arraigned on the murder charge Sept. 2 in a Pasadena court, according to published reports

Authorities have not released the name of the woman who was killed. Burbank Retirement Village West did not respond to requests for comment by the publication deadline.
