healthcare worker takes notes with masked patient

One of the nation’s largest health systems is bringing medical care into patients’ homes through a new partnership with DispatchHealth. The agreement with Fort Myers, FL-based Lee Health will provide in-home medical care to patients in Southwest Florida.

“Our goal is to provide our patients the right care at the right time and through DispatchHealth’s innovative platform, high-quality care can now come right to the patient’s front door,” Kris Fay, Lee Health’s chief officer population health and physician services, said in a statement.

Patients can request care via phone or through DispatchHealth’s mobile app or website. In addition to providing on-site care, DispatchHealth will also coordinate prescriptions, ongoing care with the patient’s physician, and billing with insurance companies.

Denver-based DispatchHealth began service to Florida a year ago and has been expanding throughout the state. The company provides in-home care to cover a wide range of illnesses including viral infections, COPD exacerbations and congestive heart failure.

In addition to DispatchHealth’s expansion in Florida, the company has also partnered with large medical systems in Connecticut and Ohio. It also inked a deal last winter with Humana to provide care to its 20 million customers, including home healthcare patients who are part of Kindred at Home.
