Most Loved Workplace badge

Brookdale Senior Living has become the first senior living company to earn certification as a “Most Loved Workplace” for demonstrating a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment.

The Best Practice Institute, a leadership development center and think tank, certifies companies where employees are the “happiest and most satisfied at work.” Brookdale’s certification was based on its score on the Love of Workplace Index, for which employees were surveyed on various elements related to employee satisfaction and sentiment, including respect, collaboration, support and sense of belonging.

“This certification reflects the dedication and passion of our team,” Brookdale President and CEO Lucinda “Cindy” Baier” said in a statement. “We believe that when employees are engaged and encouraged, they bring their best selves to work, driving excellence and furthering our mission to enrich the lives of those we serve.”

According to Brookdale, the company’s employees have a positive vision for the future because “they find purpose and meaning in their roles and the chance to be a part of something bigger than themselves.” The Brentwood, TN-based company also said that its employees “earn more than a paycheck, with opportuning to improve their physical, mental, emotional and financial well-being.”

The senior living company’s Most Loved Workplace web page also touts Baier’s strengths as a CEO, company respect and culture.

“Brookale is committed to enriching the lives of those we serve with compassion, respect, excellence and integrity,” the company states.

Certification as a Most Loved Workplace is necessary to be considered for the Newsweek Top 100 Most Loved Workplaces List, which comes out in October

The Best Practice Institute has surveyed more than 1.4 million employees and hundreds of company officials from businesses with workforces ranging from 50 to more than 10,000 employees.

Brookdale is the country’s largest senior living company, according to the 2024 Largest 150 Providers Report from Argentum. The company also topped the 2023 ASHA 50 list of largest senior living operators from the American Seniors Housing Association and was No. 3 on the 2023 ASHA 50 list of largest senior living owners.
