Fourth-quarter-to-date weighted average occupancy increased 70 basis points compared with the full third quarter.

In November, weighted average occupancy increased 350 basis points year-over-year. Weighted average occupancy has grown 760 basis points since the start of pandemic recovery in March 2021, according to the country’s largest senior living company. The monthly weighted average held fairly steady from October to November, decreasing slightly from 70.2% to 70%, Brookdale reported.

Month’s end occupancy showed little change from the previous month. Brookdale ended November at 78.1% occupancy, compared with 78.2% at the end of October.

“We do think that we are at the beginning of a ‘super cycle,’ where we have occupancy growth and strong rate performance,” Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Steve Swain said last month during the company’s latest earnings call.
