Brightview Senior Living for the second consecutive year has earned a spot on People’s Companies that Care list, which honors the top companies in the country deemed to have demonstrated respect for their employees, communities in which they are located and the environment.

The Baltimore-based senior living operator came in at No. 81 of 100 companies on the list, curated by Great Place to Work. As with last year, when Brightview ranked 75th, the company was the only senior living company on the list.

“We are honored, once again, to be named to this competitive, selective list of caring companies,” Brightview President Doug Dollenberg said in a statement. “A culture of caring for our associates, residents, families and the broader community is deeply embedded with the Brightview mission.”

The company was recognized on the 2022 list for offering its employees new tools to cope with the pandemic’s toll, including one-on-one and group therapy to learn stress-reduction and self-care techniques. The company’s wellness manager also leads weekly meditation sessions and has provided restorative exercises for improved mental and emotional health.

Additionally, Brightview created a task force devoted to developing a plan to ensure a diverse group of employees from different races, ethnicities and secual orientations are represented in leadership roles.

“We were determined to be bigger than COVID,” a Brightview community manager said.

People’s Companies that Care list is based on more than one million employee survey responses and data from companies representing more than 6.1 million US employees. In that survey, 89% of Brightview’s employees indicated that the organization is a “great place to work,” compared with 57% at the average US company.

The list ranks companies deemed to have gone above and beyond to make the workforce a more generous and rewarding place, from community and philanthropic support to employee health and wellness to their COVID-19 pandemic response.

Brightview also has ranked as the No. 1 Best Workplaces in Aging Services for large senior living and care companies (1,000 or more employees) four years in a row — 202220212020 and 2019 — from Fortune and Great Place to Work. Brightview also was the only senior living company named to Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For list in 2021 and on the national lists of 2019 Best Workplaces for Women released by Fortune and Great Place to Work.
