Legislation introduced last week would extend the suspension of the 2% sequestration cut on the Medicare fee-for-service payment that has been in effect since 2011 for the length of the public emergency caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

A provision of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act that suspends the cut is set to expire Dec. 31.

The Medicare Sequester COVID Moratorium Act (H.R. 8840), introduced by Reps. Brad Schneider (D-IL) and David McKinley (R-WV), has the support of several groups, among them the American Association for Homecare, LeadingAge, the Visiting Nurse Associations of America/ElevatingHOME, and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.
