Assisted living / personal care managers saw a 5.58% bump in salary in 2024, along with an average 13.5% bonus, bringing their overall average annual salary up to $73,422 for same-participating facilities year to year. That’s according to the 2024-2025 Nursing Home Salary & Benefits Report, which was released Friday by Hospital Healthcare Compensation Service.

The overall average salary for all assisted living / personal care managers working in long-term care facilities and skilled nursing facilities was $77,380, according to data from this year’s respondents. Managers working in nursing homes earned an average annual salary of $74,090, compared to their continuing care retirement community counterparts, who earned $88,356.

For facilities with up to 99 beds, the average annual salary for assisted living / personal care managers was $74,919, compared to $80,295 for those working at facilities with 100 beds or more. Not-for-profit managers out-earned their for-profit counterparts with average salaries at $79,422 and $75,320, respectively.

Assisted living / personal care managers working at facilities with gross revenues of up to $7.5 million earned an average of $73,322 while those working at facilities with revenues landing between $7.5 and $9.9 million earned an average of $$75,522. Managers at facilities grossing between $10 million and $12.5 million earned an average of $74,637, compared to managers working at facilities grossing between $12.5 million and $17.5 million earned an average of $79,533, and those working at facilities grossing over $17.5 million earned an average of $98,905. 

Florida paid assisted living / personal care managers the most, with managers in the state earning $91,162, on average, followed by Pennsylvania ($86,999) and Minnesota ($80,156). Assisted living/personal care managers working in the Chicago, IL-Napverville, IN-Joliet-WI core-based statistical areas earned the highest average annual salary of $92,246. They were followed by the Minneapolis, MN-St. Paul, MN-Bloomington, WI, area at $85,076 and the Indianapolis-Carmel, IN area at $76494.

The 47th Nursing Home Salary & Benefits Report is based on responses from  914 long-term care facilities and skilled nursing facilities that submitted data on more than 100,660 employees nationwide.
