California, Texas and Florida are home to the greatest number of senior living communities recognized for outstanding care through A Place for Mom’s 2022 Best of Senior Living Awards.

The annual awards honor the top 2% to 3% of senior living and care providers based on resident and family reviews on the A Place for Mom and SeniorAdvisor websites, according to the company.

In total, 586 assisted living, independent living and memory care communities were recognized through the 2022 program, including communities operated by Atria Senior Living, Brookdale Senior Living, Holiday Retirement, Independence Village, Maplewood Senior Living, Pacifica Senior Living, Sonida Senior Living (formerly Capital Senior Living), StoryPoint Senior Living, Sunrise Senior Living, Traditions and other companies.

“Hundreds of thousands of reviews across aplaceformom.com capture first-hand experiences from seniors and their families,” A Place for Mom Senior Vice President of Community Network Sue Johansen said. “A common theme across the top reviews is the outstanding level of care and support senior living communities continue to provide.”

To earn the recognition, communities had to receive 10 or more reviews during the award period on the A Place for Mom or SeniorAdvisor websites, and the average overall rating had to be at least 4.5 out of 5 stars. Winners also must have offered at least one of the following types of care or services in the United States and Canada: independent living, assisted living, memory care, continuing care retirement community, skilled nursing or home care.

The reviews and ratings were collected Nov. 1, 2020, to Dec. 31, 2021. Visit the A Place for Mom website to see the entire list of communities.
