The American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living announced the recipients Thursday of the 2023 Silver – Achievement in Quality award. Among them are eight assisted living communities and one dual assisted living/skilled nursing facility.

The Silver Award — the second of three distinctions possible through the AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program — is given to organizations that meet “progressively rigorous standards of performance to further improve the lives of residents and staff in long term care,” according to AHCA/NCAL.

NCAL Executive Director LaShuan Bethea said she was especially proud of the work the recognized assisted living providers put into being recognized for the award.

“Assisted living providers continue to be focused on quality, and this year’s Silver honorees demonstrate that commitment,” she said. “I feel invigorated about the future knowing our members are working diligently to deliver the highest quality care for our residents and congratulate each one for this incredible recognition. This is an important journey for assisted living and all long-term care providers.”

The eight assisted living communities honored at the Silver level:

  • Magnolia Manor of Macon in Macon, GA
  • Heritage Woods of Freeport in Freeport, IL
  • Heritage Woods of Minooka in Minooka, IL
  • Heritage Woods of Ottawa in Ottawa, IL
  • Avita Senior Living at Rolling Hills in Wichita, KS
  • Butterfield Residential Care Center in Bolivar, MO
  • Yankee Hill Village in Lincoln, NE
  • The District Home in Manassas, VA

The dual assisted living/skilled nursing facility recognized with a Silver award was Good Samaritan Society – Woodland in Brainerd, MN.

“I am incredibly proud of our remarkable members for this achievement,” AHCA/NCAL President and CEO Mark Parkinson said in a statement. “This recognition is a testament to their unwavering dedication, passion and tireless efforts to deliver exceptional services, innovative solutions and transformative care for their residents and staff. Their impact is undeniable.”

The nine 2023 assisted living-related Silver award winners — a number that represents an increase from 2022, when only six assisted-living related Silver awards were given — will be presented their awards alongside 63 recognized skilled nursing facilities at the AHCA/NCAL Convention and Expo in October in Denver.

AHCA/NCAL announced the 2023 Bronze award winners earlier this month.
