More than 850 senior living communities are being recognized by A Place for Mom in its 2023 Best of Senior Living Awards.
This year’s awards recognize 859 communities, all of which provide independent living, 614 of which provide assisted living and 525 of which provide memory care. Additionally, 11 home care companies are being honored.
The awards span 236 organizations, A Place for Mom told McKnight’s Senior Living. The states with the highest number of community winners include Florida, with 114; Texas, with 94; California, with 85; and Michigan, with 57.
The awards, according to the online platform and advisory service, recognize the top 1% to 2% of the almost 45,000 senior living providers across the United States and Canada “for providing exemplary care and support to aging loved ones.”
Award winners were chosen based on reviews from older adults and their families. All award winners had an average rating of 4.5 stars or higher (out of 5) and received 10 or more reviews on aplaceformom.com or senioradvisor.com during calendar year 2022.
“To date, we’ve gathered more than 330,000 reviews of senior living communities and providers across aplaceformom.com that capture first-hand experiences from seniors and their families. ….The outstanding care and support senior living communities provide remains a common theme across the top reviews,” Sue Johansen, executive vice president, community network, at A Place for Mom, said in a statement.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the awards, and providers were recognized in almost every state and in several Canadian provinces.
