Almost 400 assisted living communities were acknowledged Monday by the National Center for Assisted Living for meeting at least one goal of the organization’s Quality Initiative.
For 2019, eligibility requirements included:
- Direct care staff turnover was 50% or less;
- 90% or more of residents and / or family members said they were satisfied with their experience;
- Hospital readmissions within 30 days of hospital discharges were 20% or less; and
- Antipsychotics were used off-label in 15% of residents or less.
Eleven assisted living communities met four goals of the initiative, 39 met three, 91 met two, and 251 met one, according to NCAL. Assisted living communities submitted data via the LTC Trend Tracker by Nov. 21 to demonstrate their level of achievement. Recognized communities are listed on NCAL’s website.
“It’s obvious that providers have put effort into quality improvement this past year, and I’m confident we’ll continue to make progress in the years to come,” Mark Parkinson, president and CEO of NCAL and the American Health Care Association, said in a statement.
AHCA also recognized 9,506 skilled nursing facilities that met the quality goals of a parallel initiative. Assisted living and skilled nursing achievers will be recognized March 10 at the AHCA / NCAL Quality Summit in Grapevine, TX.
