Brentwood, TN-based Brookdale Senior Living saw a 7% increase in move-ins in the third quarter of this year compared with the same quarter in 2021, the company reported Monday.

Brookdale said September marked 11 consecutive months of year-over-year weighted average occupancy growth, with occupancy growing 750 basis points since the start of the recovery in March 2021. Sequential occupancy increased 50 basis points both on a weighted average and month-end basis.

The company is intent on building occupancy back to a pre-pandemic level of 85% and then will push for a return to its historically high occupancy level of 89%, President and CEO Lucinda “Cindy” Baier said in August during the company’s second-quarter earnings call.
Monday’s occupancy report was issued amid reports that the company is considering a sale.
