Brio Living Services names Kalen Carlson CFO
Kalen Carlson has been named chief financial officer at Brio Living Services, formerly known as United Methodist Retirement Communities & Porter Hills.
Carlson currently is Brio’s senior director of financial reporting and foundation. As CFO, she will succeed Kim Hoppe, Brio’s CFO since 2019, who is leaving at the end of the year to accept a consulting opportunity.
Carlson is a licensed certified public accountant and before joining Brio was associate vice president/controller for Covenant Living.
Retirement Unlimited Inc. hires Darren Eversole as VP of finance, development
Darren Eversole has been hired as vice president of finance and development for Roanoke, VA-based Retirement Unlimited Inc. He will oversee current and new financial opportunities for RUI Development, Care Impact, Lifeworks Services and LUXE Unlimited.
Eversole has worked in the healthcare field for 16 years and has experience managing hospital and physician practice financial performances and developing proformas for system initiatives. He previously was a director of finance at Carilion Clinic.
Eversole earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from Roanoke College and his MBA from the University of Phoenix.
Emerald Heights names Jamilyn Bloodworth health services administrator
Jamilyn Bloodworth has been named health services administrator at Emerald Heights, a life plan community member of Emerald Communities in Redmond, WA
Bloodworth comes to Emerald Heights with more than 20 years of experience in the senior living and healthcare industries. She earned her undergraduate degree in healthcare administration from Capella University.
Danish Home of Chicago names Danielle Santore director of nursing
Danielle Santore has been named director of nursing at The Danish Home of Chicago, which offers a continuum of care from independent living to skilled nursing.
Santore obtained her associate degree at Wright College and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Elmhurst College in 2018. Currently pursuing her doctorate in nursing practice at Loyola University, she plans to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner.
Cypress Cove adds Majid Sayeh, Robert Ashworth as culinary leaders
Majid Sayeh has been promoted to the position of executive chef, and Robert Ashworth has been appointed executive sous chef at Cypress Cove, Ft. Myers, FL.
Sayeh, originally from Morocco, pursued hotel management studies in its capital city of Rabat before relocating to the United States. Completing his education in Sarasota, FL, he has spent 20 years in the industry, culminating in his most recent position as banquet chef at a Hyatt Regency hotel.
Ashworth gained experience from establishments in Southwest Florida, with his most recent role being at Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurants.
Central Baptist Village’s Lori Altman wins 2023 Chicago CFO of Year award
Lori Altman, chief financial officer of Central Baptist Village, Norridge, IL, has been named 2023 Chicago CFO of the Year by the Chicago chapter of Financial Executives International.
Altman joined CBV as CFO in 2009. She has more than 37 years of professional experience in for-profit and nonprofit organizations and has spent the past 21 years serving older adults.
CEAL@UNC Executive Director Sheryl Zimmerman receives Distinguished Career Achievement Award
Sheryl Zimmerman, PhD, executive director of what used to be known as the Center for Excellence in Assisted Living, has earned the 2024 Distinguished Career Achievement Award from the Society for Social Work and Research. She will receive the award at the society’s annual conference in January.
At the University of North Carolina, Zimmerman is the University Kenan Distinguished Professor and co-directs the interdisciplinary Program on Aging, Disability and Long-Term Care at the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research, and she is director of aging research in the School of Social Work. She was announced as executive director of the renamed CEAL@UNC in February when the center moved to UNC at Chapel Hill.
Zimmerman received her undergraduate degree in social work from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign before earning her master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Before joining UNC in 1997, she held faculty positions at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Maryland.
