Pinnacle Quality Insight has recognized 399 independent living and assisted living communities nationwide with Customer Experience Awards for “providing a superior customer experience for their patients/residents.”

Additional awards were given to skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation facilities and intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

The awards, according to the long-term care satisfaction measurement company, represent the top 15% of senior living and senior care locations and are based on empirical data that were collected from more than 150,000 surveys in 2021.

Pinnacle measures communities on up to 15 dimensions. Some of them are unique, such as professional therapy services, volunteer services and transportation needs. Others are universal, such as treatment and dignity, response to problems and communication. Some other dimensions in senior living include activities, move-in process, cleanliness, personal care, safety and security, food quality or variety, and dining services. Taken as a whole, these categories represent the quality of service delivered to customers and their families.

“I find incredible inspiration in these facilities and communities,” Pinnacle CEO Chris Magleby said. “We’re all looking for good news right now, and they are an example of excellence through difficult times.”

In total, 361 assisted living communities across 38 states and 38 independent living communities across 21 states were honored. The states with the highest number of assisted living honorees in 2022 include Oregon (64), Minnesota (22) and Florida and Iowa (21 each). The states with the highest number of independent living honorees in 2022 include Wisconsin (5), Indiana (4) and Georgia, Florida and Kansas (3 each).
