A coalition of groups advocating for home care workers scored a $10 million five-year grant to increase women’s equality by bolstering the care economy.

Caring Across Generation, the National Domestic Workers Alliance and four other organizations were selected for the grant through the Equality Can’t Wait Challenge, an initiative to increase the power and influence of women by 2030.

“We’re thrilled this grant will allow us to research, test, and scale equitable new models for care,” National Domestic Workers Alliance President Ai-jen Poo said. “Thanks to this historic grant, we will be able to lay the foundation for a system in states and across the country that values caregiving and thus supports true equality for women, especially women of color.”

The goal of the project is to help women, regardless of race or socio-economic background, deliver and receive care for themselves and their families without the threat of economic instability.

The organizations will partner with state-based organizations to conduct research that backs evidence-based care and help shape policy.
