Niagara County, NY, will use $500,000 in EPA funds to clean up a brownfield site where an assisted living complex will be built.

The EPA announced the award last week. According to the agency’s press release, the project will create 100 construction jobs and 20 other new jobs. Green building design is proposed, with pedestrian connections to a neighboring commercial plaza, town park and community center.

The county earned the award money by successfully using Brownfield Revolving Loan Funding grants in the past.

“Through Niagara County’s Brownfields Cleanup Revolving Loan Fund Program, 14 properties have been remediated, environmental contamination addressed and new economic opportunities created,” Niagara County Legislature Chairwoman Rebecca Wydysh stated in the release.
